MICRO THEATRE
FAREWELL FROM NEWCASTLE'S VERY OWN FUN AND QUIRKY MICRO THEATRE FESTIVAL
Micro Theatre has made the difficult decision to cancel performances that were to be held in the Newcastle Theatre Company Laneway in February 2022 due to COVID-19 impacts. The festival organisers have also decided to wrap the festival up for the last time.
Micro Theatre is all about getting up close and personal and this just isn’t possible when you have COVID-19 to contend with. This is a difficult decision, but we are all so proud of what the littlest theatre festival with the biggest heart has achieved in seven years.
Micro Theatre began in 2015 and has collaborated with 29 directors, 34 writers, 124 actors, volunteers and businesses to produce 63 short plays over 6 festivals and over 3000 tickets sold.
We have thoroughly enjoyed providing quirky theatre for Newcastle, working with an awesome team of venues, writers, directors and actors. Our motto has been theatre up close and personal and in the era of Covid and social distancing it is not a format that audiences or performers are comfortable with.
“We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in a Micro Theatre production over the past seven years for the memories and the sheer joy of working together to create innovative, fun and relatable theatre. We have had an absolute blast working with you and wish you all the best for the future.
If you have purchased tickets for the Micro Theatre plays scheduled to be performed at Newcastle Theatre please contact the venue directly for a refund on Ph 4952 4958, Monday – Friday 3pm-6pm.

Thank you
